I was invited to exhibit my work at Gallery Streetscape in Castricum.

Recently have been working on some new paintings which I now love to share with you all! Since I do LOVE the sky with her beautiful Dutch clouds, I can't get enough of it! I have been working on some larger size paintings indoors. With the inspiration I collected over the years working outdoors.

Friday the 12th of may I installed 17 of my latest paintings full of Vitamin SEA. Love to invite you all for the grand opening Saturday the 20th of may at 14.30 hours at Gallery Streetscape in Castricum. Would be nice to see you all....just in case you can't make it that day you have a chance to see my work at the Gallery until the 22nd of juni 2017.

Last week sold this painting 'Horses at the beach' painted this one at the beginning of this year in wintertime en plein air at the beach of 'Noordwijk aan Zee' at the Dutch coast. 
I am very happy this painting has found a great home and will be cherished for sure  :-)

A few weeks ago we went to visit the beach of Belgium for a small holiday trip. 
While we were walking at the beach I did see a horse in the far distance in the cold water. 
When we came nearer I was really hoping he would come out of the water to the beach again and he did!

I was really thrilled to meet the last horse fishermen in the world at the beach. Made a lot of pictures of the horse coming out of the water. They were fishing for shrimps in the old fashioned way. I felt like I had been traveling back in time and it reminded me of the paintings I did see in Skagen of the fishermen in Denmark 100 years ago. 

Started on this big canvas of 80cm x 150cm | 31,5" x 59" inch. Had to hang it on the wall because my easel couldn't  manage this enormous size. Here I share already the start of the painting I am working on right now inspired by the horse fisherman of Oostduinkerke. 
Hope you enjoy my journey working on this for me largest canvas so far. 

This is the start of the painting I started with a yellow background to get rid of the white canvas. Then made a sketch of the horse and worked hard to fill in the large canvas. Because of the large size of the canvas had to step back a lot to see if everything is in its right place. Was great fun to work on this large scale it gives a lot of freedom of movement. 

In this fase I worked on the water and on the horse to check if everything is in it's right place and to give it more depth. Its always a challenge to ask yourself what does the painting still need? How far do you need to bring it....without loosing the energy of the start of the painting and keeping it vivid and sketchy. Hope this will work and turn out into a great masterpiece.

YIHAAAA!!!  Last week I sold my lovely girl on her pony. Will of course miss her, because she surely was one of my personal favorites. But it's also good that my best works will go out on a journey and will spread some beauty out there in the world. Glad the new owner is very happy with my girl and will take care of her  :-)  What a great ride!

Will start a new very large painting soon. Already found a new great inspiration at the beach of Belgium last week.

Last weekend spotted this little girl on a pony and really got inspired. Didn't have my painting gear with me, so today had to make a painting of it....this is a small piece, will work it out in a larger painting. Hope you enjoy it too...? As soon as I finish the larger painting I will post it here.
Great to see this girl riding, because I just had planned to make a new series of paintings with the horse as a theme. Sometimes you are just lucky and the timing is right.
